Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Eucalyptus Globulus

Eucalyptus essential oil has a strong, clean, sharp and medicinal scent. This bracing and invigorating odour has meant this oil has often been included in high street vapour rubs or inhalant oils with the purpose of de congesting the nasal passages and supressing coughs. This oil has also been shown to successfully ease stuffy noses.  It has soothing, antimicrobial and relaxing effects on the respiratory system as a whole when it is struggling with coughs, colds or flu infections. Can be added to warm water with other oils in a diffuser to give off it’s helpful scent. It could also be used in a steam inhalation.

This oil is a really warming oil and also believed to have analgesic and soothing properties. It can be mixed with any carrier oil and used in massage to ease achy muscles and joints.

Classic combinations with eucalyptus include Peppermint and tree oils such as juniper but it also blends well with florals such as lavender and geranium and herbs such as rosemary and marjoram.
