Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate is a very mild sulphate and paraben free vegetable-based anionic liquid surfactant that is light on the skin and hair.  When used in certain products it doesn’t weigh hair down or leave a coating on the skin.

Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate also serves as an emulsifier – helping ingredients to combine well and form a smooth texture. It is often used in products such as shampoos, liquid soaps, toothpaste etc. and is also considered mild enough to be used in baby products. Due to it’s natural ingredient status from Ecocert it is also often the surfactant of choice in organic products.

• Skin care: It is a cleansing agent and a good emulsifier that leaves the skin feeling cleaner, conditioned and smoother without being too harsh. It also works perfectly in both hard and soft water. This ingredient is particularly effective for sensitive or oily skin types.
• Hair care: It has mild and gentle surfactant qualities. When in formulations, it forms a rich lather that feels good and does not irritate the hair or scalp. It has a stabilizing effect on the bubbles, which means that they last longer before breaking down.

This product can be used in concentrations of between 2% – 30% depending on if it is being used as the primary or secondary surfactant. Check your recipes and Safety Assessment and use accordingly.

It can also be mixed with other surfactants, anionic, non-ionic and amphoteric.

This product is also vegan and gluten free.
