Triethyl Citrate (Vegan)

Triethyl Citrate is a plant derived multi functional cosmetic ingredient often used in Vegan deodorants, cosmetics and personal care formulations.

Triethyl Citrate is an odourless, colourless, clear liquid and is an ideal carrier for fragrances, essential oils and other ingredients. It’s ability to slow down the evaporation of fragrances makes it a staple ingredient in perfumes, body sprays and many other skin care products.

Slightly soluble in water and fully soluble in oil and alcohol.

In Deodorant making Triethyl Citrate helps control odour at source without blocking perspiration or irritating the skin.

Unlike some alkaline ingredients used in natural deodorants that neutralise odour after it forms, this additive works preventatively by inhibiting enzymes responsible for odour formation. This helps to stop odour causing bacteria from breaking sweat down into strong smelling compounds while still allowing the skin to function normally.
