Tussah Silk Fibre Natural bleached.

This silk is also known as wild silk and is a unique and luxurious natural, protein rich fibre.  Tussah silk transforms both CP and HP soaps by elevating the final product without upsetting your recipe or needing any changes to be made to the lye calculations. This silk can also be added to liquid soap made with potassium hydroxide.

Why add Tussah Silk to your soap recipe:

  • This silk contains natural proteins of both Fibroin (helps with smoothness and glide) and Sericin (offers moisture retention and skin conditioning properties).
  • Gives a beautiful silky glide, perfect for creating luxury, high end bars of soap.
  • Adds an amazing slip to shaving soaps.
  • Gives protein enriched lather with light, creamy bubbles.
  • Also gives harder, longer lasting bars with the silk helping to reinforce the soaps structure.

How to use Tussah Silk Fibre bleached in CP, HP and liquid soap making:

  • Take a small amount, approximately 50-100g per 500ml of oils in your recipe.
  • For CP and HP add directly to your hot lye water. Stir until it dissolves. This can take a few minutes.
  • For liquid soap, add to hot distilled water and stir until the silk dissolves. This can take between 5 and 10 mins. The silk may still not fully dissolve but will once potassium hydroxide is added.
  • Proceed with your recipe as normal.

This silk is naturally produced by silk worms.
