Stearic Acid also known as Stearin. INCI Stearic Acid

Stearic acid is aften added to Pillar Wax to help harden and add opacity.

This vegetable derived completely natural stearin has been approved for use in cosmetic applications. Can be used as an emulsifier, binder and emollient where is also brings lovely skin benefits like softening skin and moisturising. It creates a barrier to keep moisture locked in so is very useful for people with dry skin issues.

Stearin is a handy emulsifier and great conditioner for the hair. It acts as a lightweight barrier protecting the hair from harmful elements in the environment.

Stearin is also useful as a hardener for cold process soaps, and as an excellent thickener to shampoos, balms etc. It is an amazing binder and works really well to hold ingredients together and stop them from separating. It also brings a lovely smooth texture to products and can prevent ‘skin drag’

Stearin comes in small, white granule form. It is oil soluble and has a PH of 5.5 It also can work as a mild surfactant and softener.

Stearic Acid is safe for all skin and hair types although a patch test is recommended prior to use.
