This starch allows the addition of fragrance to bath salts and milks but assists in keeping the salts and milks dry. Simply add the fragrance oil to the potato starch (5 – 10% starch to salt weight) and mix well. Then mix into your chosen salts, they should feel dry at this stage. Package.
Potato starch is hydrophilic which means when it comes into contact with water it dissolves and disperses the fragrances etc. into the water without leaving any residue or film. It also provides a soft feel to the water.
Potato starch Pure is also used as a general filler in bath and body preparations. It cuts down on the feeling of greasiness if used in body butters and balms, it also adds a lovely silky feeling to products.
