Cornflour Corn starch

Cornflour or Corn starch:  Zea Mays Starch

Cornflour is a very fine white starch which comes from milling the endosperm of the kernel of the corn (maize) grain.

This is another useful addition to many cosmetic products. In bath bomb making it helps improve texture and appearance. It can also slow down the fizzing slightly, allowing for a longer acting bomb.  The addition of this starch brings a silky feel to the bath water.

Corn Starch can be safely used on it’s own as a lovely alternative to talc. When mixed with other cosmetic grade starches can make beautiful face powders too. Face masks can also benefit from the addition of corn starch, simply blend with other powders, yoghurt etc.

Cornflour or Corn Starch is very good at absorbing excess oils therefore is a good addition to balms or lotions where you do not want to leave a greasy feel on the skin after use. For the same purpose, it can be used as a dry shampoo ingredient.

It is also useful when added to soaps where it can offer a feeling of luxury in both solid and liquid soap.
