Cetearyl Alcohol Flakes

Cetearyl alcohol is a blend of vegetable derived cetyl and stearyl fatty alcohols. This mix forms a white waxy material often used as an emulsifier, emollient and thickening agent in skin care e.g. creams and lotions and hair care e.g. conditioners, shampoo, mousse and anti-frizz creams.

Cetearyl Alcohol Flakes are a safe addition to any formulation and extremely mild and gentle. They are non-drying and are perfect for use even in baby care products.

This skin safe product is both oil and alcohol soluble but completely un-soluble in water.

Uses in Skin Care Products:

• Product stabiliser – Helps maintain texture and consistency keeping products rich and creamy but not greasy. Also helps to bind and keep water and oils together in products.
• Emollient – Helps lock moisture into skin keeping it soft and hydrated. Really useful for dry skin.
• Thickener – The addition of this helps to bulk and thicken products making them feel more luxurious.

Uses in Hair Care Products:

• Conditioning – Conditions and nourishes dry and damaged hair but suitable for all hair types.
• Emollient – Creates a protective barrier that helps prevent moisture loss.
• De-Frizzing – De-tangles and de-frizzes by smoothing hair shafts making hair feel softer and easier to manage.
