Apricot Kernel Oil: Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil

One of the most useful carrier oils in our opinion and often to be found in Soaposh Flexi recipes.

Apricot Kernel Oil is a light yellow in colour and has naturally occurring oleic, linoleic and palmitic acids.  It is renowned for being a gentle oil and easily absorbed. Suitable for all skin types, and highly emolliating, it can be used on sensitive, dry or inflamed skin, in all types of cosmetics such as body balms and butters, bath products, emulsified lotions and creams, hair and lip care and cold/hot process soap making.

Apricot Kernel oil is obtained from the kernel of the apricot tree by cold pressing to release the retained oil.  It is then filtered and refined to remove impurities.  The apricot tree is cultivated primarily in the Mediterranean areas, South Africa, Australia and parts of the United States.

Soaposh Suggested Usage Rates:

Up to 15% in emulsified lotions and creams,

Up to 10% in balms and body butters

Up to 10% in cold process soap to create a stable, conditioning, fairly hard bar of soap.
